Vientiane Northern Bus Terminal is a long distance bus terminal located 9.6 km by road to the North East of the Patuxai Monument, which is located in the centre of Vientiane City.

Vientiane Northern Bus Terminal is located outside of the city centre and has few shops or restaurant nearby. There are some facilities, however, located inside the main station building.

• An inexpensive sit down restaurant at the right hand side of the main entrance.

There several banks of ticket containers in Vientiane Northern Bus Terminal, each for different bus companies. Some routes are only served by a single company, other more popular routes will have several bus companies operating services. The vehicles used by the different bus companies can vary a great deal. For instance, some companies used minibuses and other full size buses. Some services are sleeper services with flat beds, others have seats. Some companies offer food and WiFi on board, as well as toilets, others do not.

Payment for tickets must be made in Laotian kip (LAK). You can book in advance at the ticket counters in the bus station, however, few people choose this option because it means a round trip of nearly 20 km from Vientiane City to complete a visit to the station.
