About Siem Reap
Siem Reap is busy tourist town located 6 km from Angkhor Wat, which is the most visited place in Cambodia. By Cambodian standards Siem Reap is an expensive place to stay with a very wide range of international cuisines and international standard hotels to cater for the 2 million plus people who come each year to visit Angkhor Wat. As well as Angkhor Wat there are other things to see and do in Siem Reap such as visit the Angkor National Museum (a museum dedicated to the Angkhor period), the Senteurs d’Angkor Workshop (a small centre with around 100 Cambodian people engaged in traditional crafts) and the Cambodian Cultural Village (a outdoor museum with models of Cambodian Heritage sites).

For onward travel from Siem Reap to Thailand you need to cross the border by travelling to Poipet. By bus it takes around 2 hours to travel from Siem Reap to Poipet. From Poipet the nearest large town on the Thai side of the border is Aranyaprathet. It takes around 5 hours 30 minutes to travel from Aranyaprathet to Bangkok either by bus or by train. If you intend to travel from Siem Reap in other direction towards Vietnam you first need to go the Phnom Penh to then fly or take a bus to Ho Chi Minh city (also known as Saigon) in Vietnam. The journey by bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh takes 6 to 7 hours depending upon which bus service you take.
